Mountain tracking in Tromsø
Sunday and our last few hours in Tromsø before leaving for airport.
Before leaving we walked from city center to the cable car from Solliveien in Tromsdalen up to the mountain ledge Storsteinen.
The two gondolas, known as Seal and Polar bear, each have a capacity of 28 passengers and took us 421 m above sea level.
From the viewing platform at the upper station, we enjoyed spectacular panoramic views of Tromsø and the surrounding islands, mountains and fjords.
The nature is so close to the city center and makes it so easy to be a sporty traveller.
The view this Sunday is breathtaking, with a bright shining sun and all the mountains surrounding the city covered in snow. I just could´nt get enough of the 360 degree view, with the ocean, fjords and the glacier.
It´s just magical.
Our last meal in Tromsø was a soup-buffet on "Skarven". It´s a lovely restaurant by the sea.
We complemented us self with a cold Mack beer the last few minutes before we had to run to reach the plane back home, wanting to make the most out of our 48 hours.
Tromsø is ideal for seeing the northern lights in wintertime and has a modern mix of outdoor activities, a vibrant nightlife, and places to eat local food.
If you haven't experienced the midnight sun, be sure to do so, you will never forget.
Fjellheisen: opening from 15 May – 15 August: 10.00 – 01.00 (last gondola up at 00.30)
